This evening event gave an exclusive chance to join Daniel Rowland founder of Studio 1 Architects and his wife Nina, also a designer for a tour over prosecco and nibbles of their home in Notting Hill, West London.
The property was originally a 1 bed 1 bath garden flat with one third of the flat allocated as circulation space. After substantially reconfiguring the flat, digging out the existing coal chute and putting a modest extension into the garden, the property is now a generous 3 double bed, 3 bath contemporary home.
Key design features include the use of exposed brickwork, concrete floors, skylights and underfloor heating throughout. Careful attention to detail by the designer couple creates a unique space with hand made porcelain lights made by an artist friend, a bespoke kitchen made on site and furniture designed and built in house with wood specially hand selected from the timber yard.
3m x 3m floor to ceiling sliding doors provide a flush threshold into the rear garden, a
multi-leveled landscaped garden oasis with a cedar batten clad outbuilding.
