Chris Williamson
Chris is the Founder and Chair of Weston Williamson + Partners which was formed in 1985 following selection by the RIBA for their 40 under 40 exhibition. From the original 2 partners who were put together for group projects in alphabetical order at Leicester Polytechnic the practice has studios in 6 countries with 250 staff and is now part of the Egis group of companies.
At Leicester Chris and Andrew both won prizes for energy efficient designs and this preoccupation has led to their specialism in city shaping with well designed , safe, efficient public transport projects throughout the world.
Chris is Visiting Professor at University of East London, leads a Design Think Tank at London School of Architecture and has recently converted a former Methodist Church into a community arts centre in his home town of Ilkeston in Derbyshire to demonstrate the importance of creative thinking and Contemporary Arts to an area which has seen an acute loss of industry over the past few decades. www.ilkonarts.com
