Ann de Graft-Johnson
Ann de Graft-Johnson (RIBA) is a Senior Lecturer in Planning and Architecture, University of the West of England, Bristol. Ann is an architect with special expertise in equal opportunities and diversity issues both with regard to practice but also the profile of the architectural profession.
As one of the module leaders for a Live project Studio, Ann has extensive participatory work both as a practitioner and as an academic. Having undertaken and published several research projects, reports, conference papers and other writings, Ann is also an experienced facilitator/trainer. Ann has substantial experience in addressing inclusion, cultural, gender and equal opportunities issues and has been very involved with organisations that have sought to support change including greater diversity in academia and practice.
She was a member/director of Matrix Architects Feminist Cooperative which actively worked to redress the balance in relation to groups who are underrepresented in decision making processes which affect the built environment, and a founder member of the Society of Black Architects (SOBA).
