Open City’s educational programmes have supported over 2,000 young people this term alone!

Open City’s Head of Education, Sarah Phillips, highlights some recent triumphs in the charity’s young people’s programmes.

Hi there

Open City's Education team have been super busy inspiring the next gen of city makers and shapers since the start of the new academic year. Zafir has been doing a sterling job supporting almost 600 secondary school students ably assisted by the alumni of our Accelerate programme who are the definition of amazing role models.

Meanwhile, Siȃn, Lucille and Iyanu have been delivering It's My City Too in some of London's Special Educational Needs schools and we have partnered with more than 100 built environment professionals to take Young City Makers, our core programme for Key Stage Two to 1500 primary school students since September alone.

We are also keenly anticipating the next Accelerate Debate on Thursday 30 November asking: What Actually is Feminist Architecture? at RichMix. These are public events bringing the themes which underpin our education work at Open City with public audiences. Hear five speakers outline their micro manifestos answering this big question.

Finally, what better place to start your Christmas shopping than right here: have a look at Open City's Christmas shop or gift an Open City Friendship for a full year of delights. And why not book an early treat on our final boat tour of 2023 on Saturday 2 December?

I hope you enjoy your week,
Sarah
