Open City celebrates Young City Makers in East London

A composite image of this year’s student work created by the staff at Hayes Davidson

On Monday 25 November we were thrilled to celebrate our 2024 Young City Makers at our annual awards ceremony, held at Tower Hamlets Town Hall. We recognised the ideas and achievements of over 1000 primary school students who worked in partnership with London's most generous professional design and engineering practices. Joining us was the Deputy Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Maium Talukdar, who awarded the medals to our students.

We were overjoyed to see so many happy students revelling in their achievements. The real highlight of the evening for many of the adults were the voices of the young people themselves. One 9 year old student said "At the start of this project, I thought architects just built buildings, now I realise they can change entire communities."

Each year, the magical folks at Hayes Davidson create a composite vision from all the models made by the East London Young City Makers teams. We think 2024's might be their best yet, and we're hugely grateful to them for their superb efforts.
