Poster Competition winner and shortlist
In July we launched the first ever Open House Festival Poster Competition in order to celebrate the three decades of opening London’s hidden (and not so hidden) architecture and design to the public.
In the spirit of community and inclusivity, we wanted our supporters - the people who make all the work at Open City possible - to put their stamp on this year's festival.
We were inundated with beautiful submissions; from intricate drawings, to bold graphic statements, and photographic delights, and entrants ranged from talented young students, to professional artists, photographers, and architects.
After much deliberation amongst the team, we narrowed down the entries to a final shortlist of five designs, all of which had their own unique style and flair. The shortlisted entries came from Alexandra Ramirez, Henry Aldridge, Paul Lincoln, and Yasemin Varlik. However it was Harry Tindale’s charming street scene that won us over with its encapsulation of the spirit of the Open House Festival.
Harry Tindale is a Part I architecture graduate from Newcastle University, who has previously worked in practice at Hugh Broughton Architects. Alongside his illustration work, he is a keen writer and in 2021 was highly commended for the RIBA Journal's Future Architects writing competition, for a piece on Archigram's Nottingham Shopping Viaduct proposal.
Look out for the official poster on the London Underground, and tweet us a photo! For more information about the festival itself, check out the full programme of tours and events here.
