The Baylight Fellowship - Part 1 Cambridge


An experiential learning programme providing this generation’s most ambitious commissioners of new housing with the insight, knowledge and inspiration required to deliver outstanding homes and unlock sustainable future value.

Participate in the opening chapter of the Baylight Fellowship with a residential workshop and overnight visit to a series of extraordinary housing developments in Cambridge

Travelling by coach from London, the party will visit Marmalade Lane co-housing designed by Mole Architects (2018) for a tour by Frances Wright, Marmalade Lane resident and head of community partnering at TOWN, and special guest speaker Claire Flowers head of Cambridge City Council’s Housing Development Agency. A visit to Span housing in Highsett will be followed by a workshop at the Stirling Prize-winning Accordia by FCBS, Alison Brooks, Maccreanor Lavington (2008) and an evening meal and keynote lecture by 6a architects founder Tom Emerson.

Day 2 will visit the new £1 billion Eddington city district for a tour with Gavin Henderson, principal director at Stanton Williams Architects and The Ryde, Hatfield by PRP (1963) for expert led tour of homes and communal areas.

Throughout these events, participants will hear from inspirational speakers exploring the unique sensory and physical qualities of fulfilling dwellings, and from experts involved in the financing, design and delivery of these projects.

Catering and overnight accommodation at the 6a-designed Cowan Court, Churchill College is included in the ticket price. Day tickets for those travelling to Cambridge independently are also available.

Part 1 will be followed by additional separate, day-long sessions and a final residential exploring unique examples of successful housing across the capital and its hinterland.

The multi-part course offers an opportunity to join ambitious like-minded professionals for an experiential journey exploring time-honoured elements of successful housing – building long-term collaboration between Baylight Fellows drawn from across the public and private sectors.
