London Architecture Helicopter Tour (April Fool)

London Architecture Helicopter Tours

New for Open House Festival 2022: experience London’s remarkable architectural history from the sky with a new programme of Helicopter tours.

“The only way to truly see London’s architecture is from the cockpit of a Boeing CH-47 Chinook”

Open City Motto

Open City is proud to launch a new programme of architectural history tours, exploring the spires, high-rises and towers of London’s stunning skyline – from the air.

Join us at the 2022 Open House Festival for a chinook tour of landmark buildings across the capital. Some of the views the tour will take in include the top bit of Renzo Piano’s Shard, the dome of Christopher Wren’s St Paul’s Cathedral and the heating and ventilation machinery on Richard Rogers’ Lloyds Building.

The helicopter tours will be led by former paratrooper and acclaimed architectural tour guide Adrianna Carroll-Battaglino who said, ‘Architectural helicopter tours can be tricky. It is sometimes hard to explain the nuances of a Nicholas Hawksmoor church composition over the roar of twin 4,733-horsepower Honeywell engines, but to be honest most people are too busy taking selfies to care what the tour guide is saying anyway so it’s fine.’

Helicopter tours will begin on the first Saturday of the two-week 2022 Open House Festival with free tickets available to book via the festival programme website.
