We're passionate about well-made spaces that stand the test of time and make you want to hang around a little longer. We bridge the gap between the designers and makers who push the boundaries to bring materials to life, for good.
Surface Matter work with some of the most exciting materials out there - from sheets made of recycled paper to panels that play with light. Our design-led surfaces have sustainable qualities and can be used in everything from retail and office spaces to kitchens or skate parks.
We support designers and makers by working through projects, sharing samples and information, discussing design criteria and material suitability, supplying the actual sheet material, offering technical and fabrication information and making useful connections where we can.
Our studio shows off the materials we love in action - in our desks, displays, kitchen doors and surfaces as well as prototype pieces, samples and large panels. Our love of materials drove us to curate a materials library in our studio that architects, designers, creatives and material enthusiasts are free to explore and find inspiration. The studio is closed to the public right now, but we are offering online material sessions.
