Novara Media, founded in 2011 by James Butler and Aaron Bastani is an independent media organisation addressing issues – from a crisis of capitalism to climate change and racism. In Red Metropolis (Repeater), culture editor and historian Owen Hatherley argues that a socialist, democratic and pluralistic city could become a beacon of hope for the whole country and beyond.

Owen Hatherley will be in conversation with journalist and left-wing political activist Ash Sarkar. Sarkar is the senior editor for Novara Media, where she presents audio content and her own video series OMFG in which she covers topics from global politics to gender and race. She also teaches political theory at the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam and is a published poet.

This event is presented in partnership with Repeater Books and forms part of their series of discussions with author Owen Hatherley and historians, architects, politicians, and activists, celebrating the launch of Red Metropolis.
